Melissa

Melissa has been practicing as a speech-language pathologist for 16 years. She is licensed under the Florida Department of Health for Speech-Language Pathology, and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Melissa has experience working with children in a variety of settings including public schools, outpatient centers, and home health.

Melissa is passionate about helping children with articulation, phonological, fluency, voice and language delays/disorders, apraxia of speech, oral sensory deficits, oral placement deficits, and negative oral habits (ex: thumb sucking, pacifier use, nail biting, etc.). Her training and experience includes the following key areas: Oral Placement and Sensory Motor Approaches, Hodson's Cycles Approach, Hanen ®, and Beckman Oral Motor. Melissa is also a PROMPT Trained therapist, and Orofacial Myologist.

Melissa plans individualized and child-centered therapy sessions using dynamic therapeutic intervention methods. Parents are encouraged to participate during sessions, and facilitate home practice exercises.
